Superior Insulated Panels have supplied bespoke aluminium grille panels as part of the £65m CBI project in Cambridge, providing nearly 600 student rooms across three new buildings. The CB1 project in Cambridge is part of the wider Cambridge development that on final completion will provide over 1.5m sq foot of commercial, retail, office space, residential apartments and restaurants.

The construction of the new student accommodation buildings comprises typical brick and block construction. On the top floor of the buildings is a steel construction where insulated aluminium panelled cladding is used. The lower floors comprise aluminium powder coated windows, aluminium curtain walling and commercial heavy duty entrance doors. Our brief was to create specific aluminium grille panels to serve the various ventilation, plant rooms and other machinery areas such as heating and ventilation and air conditioning plant rooms.

Our bespoke aluminium grille panels we fabricated to not only serve the practical needs of the building but also to meet the designs set down by the architects involved in the project. All were manufactured using the latest machinery and technology at our Coventy manufacturing plant. We were also able to call upon the expertise of our brand new powder coating plant to provide a high quality polyester powder coated finish to our bespoke aluminium grille panels that would not only last for many years, but could also meet the needs of a demanding student building.
The CB1 development in Cambridge is now a landmark construction project in this famous university City.
