Aluminium Pressings are widely used in construction projects for decorative, cladding or insulation purposes. Typically they are used externally but can also serve useful purposes inside a building.
In most cases aluminium pressings will be made to order for the particular building or application. The measurements will be taken and the pressing manufactured to suit the requirement.
What can aluminium pressings be used for?
Prior to fabrication, mill finish sheet will be used and shaped to the required design and sizes. Following this process it will be polyester powder coated to the specified colour. At the end of the powder coating process the pressing is ready for installation. If insulation is required, this will be applied after the powder coating process.
Pressings can take the form of cills to windows, fascias to elevations, covers to columns and much more. Aluminium pressings may provide aesthetic solutions first and foremost but pressings manufactured for uses such as brise soleil also offer other benefits.
Internally aluminium pressings can be used to provide coverings for reveals, columns, reception areas and much more.
The powder coating process for aluminium pressings.
Aluminium pressings are polyester powder coated to the same exacting standards as the windows, doors or curtain walling provided as part of the fenestration package.
The colours available for powder coated aluminium pressings comprise a wide range of colours from powder manufacturers such as Akzo Nobel, Exalta, Tiger, Syntha Pulvin and others. This means that there are hundreds of colours and textures available including satin, gloss and matt finishes. Powder coated colours are available in RAL, Syntha Pulvin or British Standards References.
All pressings provided in a polyester powder coated finish will come with the same guarantees as their window counterparts. If additional guarantees are required for marine, choline or sever exposure environments, these are also available upon application.
The manufacturing process
To manufacture bespoke aluminium pressings, several processes are used.
The initial process will form design and detail drawings that are accurately dimensioned to provide information of what exactly needs to be manufactured. Following this, the manufacturing process involves sheet metal, bending, welding, folding, shaping or curving.
The aluminium sheet is typically up to three metres maximum length and will be cut using sophisticated CNC machinery. Punch presses may also be used for any cutouts.
If welding is required, this will be carried out using MIG or TIG welding processes. Aluminium pressings may be required to provide structural properties or weather resistance and in these applications welding provides the most suitable performance.
At the end of the manufacturing and finishing process if insulation is required to the pressings, this will be provided using specialist materials that are bonded to the inside of the aluminium sheet.
All aluminium pressings will be completely protected for transportation and delivered ready for installation on site.
